Today was the MS Walk here in Spokane. Click here for why we did it. See below for how much fun we had while doing it.
Our team, Geeks in Sneaks, raised over $5,000 for MS research. It ended up being such a cool day that we got to participate in. My little friend from work who was diagnosed with MS was so touched that pretty much everyone in the office showed, up with their families, to support her today. I talked to her mom a little after the walk and she was fighting back the tears. She pointed out how rare it is to find a professional office that recognizes that taking care of their employees is what it's all about. It wasn't about billable hours or meeting deadlines today. It was bigger than that and it felt good.
Now. On to my awesome family. We had our choice of a 2 mile walk or a 5 mile walk. I left it up to Matt since he's the one who doesn't like to do anything when it comes to anything and I was just thankful that he came with us at all. He choose the 5 mile and not only did he not complain once but ran a good portion of it! The kids were all over running - even Low-Energy-Charlie. I pushed an empty stroller for the majority of the walk which was fine by this tired, blistered, old lady.
We turned back a little before the official turn around point so we probably only did about 4.25 miles. Not bad for this family. Not bad at all.
