Matt and I came home this afternoon, after being gone for 5 days, and Matt decided to get out the Halloween box. Charlie and Annie instantly put on wigs and insisted on wearing them all evening at my mom's house (where we were headed for dinner). Charlie told us to call him Luke Skywalker and Annie told us to call her Calice (a made up name?). I'm sure she meant Grandma Calice.
.
While I was gone I thought of them a lot and of course missed them but it was so different when I actually saw their faces. I had so many questions for them and wanted to know what they did every second of every day that I was gone. How was the fieldtrip? What did you bring for show-and-share? Did you have a bath? Many questions were met with 'I don't remembers' but I got a few little tid-bits of their 120 hours without Mom. Oh and I just wanted to squeeze and hold them and stare at their little faces and memorize the position of every freckle.
.
Annie was all over the I missed yous which I so appreciated. However, Charlie was the one that wanted to sit on my lap to read stories before bed so I'm assuming that was his version of expressing his feelings.

Ohhhh it's so good to be home! And WOW do kids change your perspective on things.
