He goes to bed around 8:30 with a little Tylenol. No biggie.
At around 12:30 am he wakes up and was gasping for air like I've never seen him do before and his body was shaking so bad he could barely drink a cup of water.
Matt took him outside thinking the cold air would help him breathe a little better. It didn't seem to help, and Matt and I are totally not the over-reacting type, so we were totally in agreement when one of us said he needed to see a doctor right away.
So Charlie and I put on coats and headed down to the ER. Of course as soon as we got in the car he seemed to get instantly better, however I kind of felt in my gut that he needed to be seen.
So we got there and waited, and waited, and finally got a room. The staff was so nice and never once made me feel crazy for bringing him in.
The doctor gave him an oral steroid that seemed to help quite a bit and had us stay in the room with a cool humidifier for about 45 minutes. After that Charlie was back to his old self and even told me on the way to the car "I liked the hospital".
So that was our adventure. We got home at 4 am and I was assuming he'd sleep in until Annie woke us both up. No such luck. He came and got me at about 6:45 needing help getting his pants down to pee. Then he was all charged up for a morning on the couch watching cartoons. Awesome. I love not sleeping.
(random picture of Annie for Lori, she seems to enjoy her crazy costumes)
So the doctor told me to keep him home for 5 days and let him rest and he'd probably be fine. I'm assuming by 5 days he really meant 2 because tomorrow we're leaving for a 7 day cruise and he's not staying home. Oh and there's no way Matt or I is going to sacrifice our vacation for a little respiratory illness.
He does seem quite a bit better though. We're hoping the fresh sea air fixes him right up! What could go wrong?

Correct. Annie cracks me up - I love it!
Sorry to hear about Charlie. Good luck with the cruise...
Sorry to disappoint, but even a non-premature baby weighing in at 10 lbs has a weak immune system; I think its a kid thing!!! Have fun on your cruise!!
