1. Driving a minivan does not make you invisible to traffic cops. They can see you just as well as they can see the other cars.
2. You can make a left hand turn from a 2 way street on to a 1 way street on a red light. Logically it doesn't seem right, the deputies teaching the class assured me it is. I can't wait for an opportunity to try it.
3. If a pedestrian is crossing the road you only have to stop if they are in your lane or one lane away on either side. Otherwise you're free to blow right through the intersection.
4. In Spokane County you can only go to traffic school once every 18 months to avoid having your ticket go on your record. I have 17 months and 3 weeks left of safe driving ahead of me.
5. The engineers who design the roads set the speed limits. Just because the citizens of 5-Mile Road petitioned to lower the engineer recommended speed limit from 35 to 25 doesn't mean you can go 42 and think you won't get stopped because the new speed limit is stupid. You will and your ticket will read that you were going 17 over when really you were just doing 7 over.
6. Only red or black and white street signs are enforceable. All other colors are recommendations. If you disagree with their recommendation you shouldn't get pulled over, it's your choice.
Just felt like sharing what I learned. I actually learned much more which is pretty scary if you think about it. I kind of thought I knew what I was doing out there, turns out I was a pretty big hazard.
