The kids are at such a great age for Orcas activities. We spent a couple hours each morning just climbing on the rocks, hunting for little sand crabs, and balancing on the logs (the rocks were lava game kept them entertained forever!).
We also made time to play with kelp, something every child should make time to do every once in a while.
Oh and my favorite activity was helping them find shells to paint and glue on to driftwood.
I declared it 'center time' (preschool terminology) and made them do it. I think they enjoyed it as much as me and Aunt Ginger did. Granted we didn't have any glue so we used contact cement (what you would use if you were putting new laminate down on your counters) and our paint was all dried out so we had to color the shells with markers. Next year I'll be a little more prepared for center time.
We were also fortunate enough to have Grandpa Rick on the Island at the same time as us. He took us out for a boat ride where we saw probably 20 - 30 seals on the rocks near the island.
Another favorite beach activity was SMORES! Hersheys for the kids, Reese for me and Matt.
On our way to the ferry on the last day we stopped by the public beach to walk around a little. We found a ton of starfish on the rocks.
Charlie seems to be going through a crazy face phase. I remember him liking all of our beach and water activities much more than he's showing in these pictures.
On a side note I recently discovered blurb.com, a site that allows you to turn your blog in to a photo book. So now I have a new reason to document our life. I think the blog book is going to replace the traditional photo album in this household. That way we preserve the story that goes with each picture. So get excited for more stories and pictures of our little family!
