Is it a cottage or a chalet?

For the last 2'ish years we've been seriously looking for either a lake cabin (on Deer Lake) or an upgrade on our current home, something with a view and possibly a pool is what we've been targeting.  It's been super frustrating for so many reasons but on the blog we'll just say we haven't found the perfect piece of property.

Fast forward to about a month ago Matt's mom calls to say the renter down the street is moving out of the place I've been eyeing for years and word on the street is the owner is ready to sell.  We called him directly and made an offer and BOOM!  Got ourselves a lake place!

Of course it was way more complicated than that but who cares now that we have it right? 

So it can't be "the cabin" because my parent's Orcas cabin is "the cabin".  So I was trying to call it "the cottage", however it looks like a chalet so that might be the new term.

We got the keys on Friday so we spent the weekend tearing out the old musty carpet, ripping down wallpaper and repairing the dock.

We're hoping to have it up and running for the 4th of July.  Yippee!

We had so much help this weekend it was great - my parents came up, Matt's parents helped (their house is 7 houses down), Matt's Aunt Claudine helped. I feel like we're way ahead of schedule for our grand opening party on the 4th :)
