Potty Pants Update

For those of you interested here's an update. For those of you not interested just don't read.
This is how the week with Annie has gone.

Monday: We take Charlie to school and head to Wal-Mart for supplies. Supplies like milk, bread, etc. We were planning to hunker down bomb shelter style and didn't want to have to leave the house for basics.

The day went as expected. Annie peed on everything. Everything but the potty chair. I made her wear her panties all day knowing that eventually it would click.

I even made her nap in her panties. She woke up drenched beyond drenched. Even her pillow was pee soaked. Her room actually still smells off.

Later we had a party for her complete with Caden, Aunt Charlotte, and Grandma Irene. There were balloons and a special cake to celebrate her brave step into BIG GIRL WORLD! She talked about her 'celebration cake' all day.

I put her to bed in a diaper with her panties over the top because I wanted 8 solid hours of sleep for myself and didn't want to throw away another pillow.

Tuesday: She wakes up while I'm in the shower and comes in to tell me she just went in the big girl potty and needed help getting her panties back up. The problem? Her diaper was still in position so I derived from this move that she sat down on her chair and peed in her diaper. I decided it clicked. Sort of. This was further than we made it on Monday so I was counting it as clicking.

Charlie doesn't have school on Tuesdays so I spent the day trying to talk to him like normal without ever taking my eyes off Annie. She was more than willing to "try" all day but only really went in the potty twice.

I discovered she figured out she was fooling me by saying she wanted to go try. What she really wanted to do was have some quiet time on her special little chair in the bathroom and read books away from her brother. She started requesting snacks be delivered to her in the bathroom.

I was fine with the plan since we were already running low on Resolve.

Wednesday: I decided that since she was so on board with her new life that we'd venture out of the house. We packed up the Resolve, some rags, Lysol wipes, 4 pairs of undies, 2 outfits, no juice, lots of snacks, and headed down to our Preschool to help move furniture for an hour.

She played while I worked. I checked in with her every 30 seconds to see if she wanted to go use the potty. She quickly figured out my rhythm and dropped a deuce in her Tinkerbell undies seconds after I popped in on her.

When I popped in 28 seconds later she had a super guilty look on her face so I started scouting for wet spots on the carpet. Nothing. I lifted up her dress to see if the undies are wet and they were dry. Dry but with a huge lump in the back.

Like a pro we go to the bathroom and I have her cleaned up and back on her way in no time. I finish up what I was there to help with and tell her we'll go to the park if she'll go potty before we leave the school and she won't. Something un-clicked in her head from what we learned on Tuesday. Shaking her didn't help.

So, true to my word we go home. Both of us mad.

We spend the rest of the day drinking juice and running to the bathroom. She has a couple of hits but probably only because she, truthfully, spent most of the day in there naked. The law of averages says something will eventually land in the toilet if you spend enough time near it.

We pick Charlie up from school and go over to my mom's house for a little bit. Oh and the highlight on Wednesday was she took her nap in panties and stayed dry the whole time. And it was a long nap too (just like this post).

So we head to my mom's because we have some cousins in town visiting. Well, that was my cover. The real reason was because I feel like my mom pressured me into this bad decision and I wanted Annie to pee on her carpets for a change.

I got my wish in the first 5 minutes we were there. I'm a horrible daughter, this isn't new news. Mom doesn't have a computer or Internet right now so I'm safe revealing my secret. Oh wait. She has a phone and other people who read this have computers. Oh well.

Thursday: I'm tired of bomb shelter life and decide we'll give the Pull Ups my mom brought us the other day a try.

It was a great day.

We went to see a free movie at the Garland. Plant 51. Not bad.

We went to the AT&T store and Safeway.

We even went to a birthday party at 5 Mile Pizza and played in the ball pit (not something anyone would want us participating in without the Pull Ups).

I'm not sure where that leaves us now. She's up there sleeping (not sleeping) in her underwear. I can hear her hollering and I'm not sure if it's because she has to pee or if its because she has a child lock on the inside of her door and she just wants some freedom. There's only one way to find out but I'm not done screwing around on the Internet just yet to go find out. I'm not only a terrible daughter but I'm a terrible mom too.

OK, after typing that I'm starting to feel guilty. So instead of proof-reading this post I'm going to go take care of the little girl I purposely brought into this world. You'll have to deal with my grammatical/spelling/etc errors for a little while. Or forever because I never really re-edit posts once I hit the Publish Post button. Sorry.

From one blog critic to another - I really enjoy your posts! And I can barely spell my name correctly so you probably have a hard time with my blog. (obsessive dog stories aside)
