So for the 4th my mom, Charlie, Annie and I headed over to Orcas. We missed the ferry by about 7 minutes on the way there - the silver lining was we got to see a beautiful sunset on the ferry ride. Ok, that's pushing it, there wasn't much of a bright side to having to wait 2 hours for the next ferry. It actually went by super fast so it wasn't too terribly bad. Obviously I'm undecided. A little distracted today, it's day 1 of potty training Annie and she's not playing along like I want her to. Probably would have been worse if the husband came and complained about how he could get to Tokyo faster than Orcas (which is why we encouraged him to stay home). The kids got to ride in Grandpa Rick's firetruck in the Eastsound parade on Saturday. Kind of a highlight for everyone.
This is a random picture of these crazy clowns hanging from the ceiling of Orcas' children's museum. I got in for 1/2 price because I have a Mobius membership so I was all jacked about that. We walked in though and the kids saw these clowns and wouldn't take another step. So like any normal, super-cheap parent, who refuses to waste $7, I took one of them under each arm and dragged them kicking and crying past the clowns into the museum. After that it was all fun and games.
This is Vanessa and Charlie on the beach. The bug catching kit somehow turned into a mechanism to make any kind of food imaginable and we ended up, instead of hunting for little crabs or tide pool stuff like I'd envisioned, playing restaurant forever on the beach. Could have done that at home but hey, who's bitchin'? Couldn't possibly be me.
My mom and 3 of her grandkids at the Doe Bay community picnic.
Charlie fishin' at the picnic.
Annie fishin' at the picnic.
