birthday party almost pictures

We had a little party for Charlie and his friends last week at 5 Mile Pizza and I managed to not get a single good picture of the birthday boy. He spent 90% of the time in the ball pit so it was hard to catch him. His cake turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. Not my most challenging masterpiece but sometimes simple gets the job done too.

I don't know if this was a self-portrait or if she was jumping or what. I think I lost control of the camera about 10 minutes into the party so who knows.
Grandma Cheryl making up games for the kids. Thank goodness for Grandmas. The party would have been even more out of control without their assistance.

That should do it for the party posts for the season. Happy 4th Birthday again to Mr. Charlie!

Your cakes are so impressive! Since I wussed out and did cupcakes last year, I thought I'd attempt something more challenging. Do you use special tools? Where do you get them? Are you self taught? Do you give tutorials? Help!

I have a cake decorating set made by Wilton. You can buy bags and tips at Joanne, Wal-Mart, etc.

I like to think I'm self taught but my mom might argue otherwise.

I did cheat a little on this one. I bought the cake at Costco and just asked them not to decorate it. Saved myself a little time that way and ended up with a freezer full of yummy leftover cake...

Oh and the key is to have something to copy. I copied Charlie's shirt on this one.

You can do it!
