Last day of schoolio.

Charlie had an awesome last day of school yesterday. He got to sing 2 of his very favorite songs - Slippery Fish and Wheels on the Bus. He got a cupcake for a friend's birthday. And the kids got to play outside. He informed me of those 3 highlights on the way home so I felt they needed to be documented.

For mom the highlight was Charlie and another little boy, Ewan, picking up the parking lot cones together at the end of class. Ewan stacked the cones and Charlie gathered them for him. Doesn't sound like a big deal but at this age most kids don't really talk to each other, much less work as a team.

The other highlight for mom was getting to finish Charlie's cupcake. I'm kidding. Except that I'm not.

No, really the other highlight was realizing that on the first day of school Charlie was so shy that he wouldn't even look his teacher in the eyes. At the end of class yesterday Charlie brought Miss Susan a card he had made her at home, walked up and gave it to her, and ...drum roll...gave her a hug too. He's come so far this year!

Next year he gets to go 2 days a week and I only stay for 1 of them. At first I was thinking that there's just no way he's going to allow this, however considering how much he's blossomed throughout the year I think he's actually going to be just fine with it. Yay for Little Charlie!
.
On a related, yet unrelated note, if you're looking for a preschool for your little one for the fall I can't say enough good things about the co-op experience. Not only was it so good for Charlie but it was great for Annie and me too. By attending class with Charlie each week I got to see what he was learning, I got to see how excited he got when we sang certain songs, I got to see him figure out how to do all the motions for all the silly preschool songs, and as an added bonus I got acquainted with all the moms so now I feel like I have a little circle of friends in our area of town with kids of the same age.
.
Oh and I got to see how he measured up with other kids of his age. What I learned right off the bat was we don't sing or draw enough. But, by the last day of class Charlie knew all the words to all the songs and he would actually participate in all the art projects (as opposed to on day 1 he took a crayon, drew 1 line, and went and played) and be excited about them.
.
If anyone out there is reading this and wants any info on our co-op I put a link on the word to our school's website. It's run through the community college though so if you're not in Spokane you can probably find something similar in your area through your local community college.
.
I feel like I could go on and on but lucky for you Miss Thang is waking up from her nap and rattling her crib cage. I should really go attend to her...
