Ding ding: round two!

Charlie's little flu bug he came down with on Friday turned in to full on round two of the flu for this happy household this weekend.

Saturday night I spent the entire night puking and pooping my guts out in the bathroom for the second time in 3 weeks. The part that made me the saddest wasn't losing my veggie pizza and feeling like I might die but the fact that I wasn't going to get to walk in Bloomsday the next day.

When I got up on Sunday morning I tried to rationalize it to Matt. I pointed out that I hadn't had diarrhea for almost 2 hours and hadn't thrown up for 3 so maybe I should go. He was like "do you really want to be getting sick in port-a-potties in the hot sun while on a 7.46 mile walk?" My fear wasn't the port-a-potties but the portion of the walk in between potty stations. Thankfully Matt, my voice of reason, was on hand to take the car keys out of my hand and force me to stay home. I would have been a zoo.

So Sunday morning, after I decided to stay home, Matt realizes that he's sick too. His parents were already en route to our house to spend the day helping with projects and helping with the kids while I was supposed to be out.

Grandma Cheryl was gracious enough to stay a couple of nights to help us get back on our feet. 95% of the time it was great to have her help with Charlie, especially when I was trying to feed the baby. The other 5%, as seen in the picture below, Charlie insisted on being with me and wouldn't let Grandma love him. Annie's under the "hooter hider", Charlie's propped on the arm of the chair, and I'm the really happy camper in the middle.
Both nights Cheryl was here she insisted on sleeping on the couch so she could change Charlie's middle of the night poops and feed Annie bottles so I could sleep.
I refused her help at first but then realized getting uninterrupted sleep might just revive me enough to survive life. Sunday night I had pumped enough milk that I was actually able to sleep for 8 hours for the first time since Annie was born. Man that was unreal.
Night 2 our plan backfired. At about 1:30 or so I heard from our room "Charlie want clean fresh diaper" so I came running out of pure habit. Cheryl was there trying to change him when she realized she was about to lose it herself. Her hands were shaking and she said she felt like she might faint. So without going into too much detail...Cheryl spent the rest of her night in the bathroom.
Perfect. We've managed to get Grandma sick for the second time in 3 weeks as well. Any day now she's going to stop offering to help us when we're down and we're not exactly going to be in any position to blame her!

So its Tuesday now and we let Grandma go home (she really wasn't any good to us anymore anyways). Charlie's still got massive diarrhea, Matt's home from work just to be safe, and I'm in good shape.
Somehow the only one to escape all this, for the second time, is baby Annie. Thank goodness.
