Charlie turned the big 2.0 yesterday. The party and entire big day was a success (defined by the absence of tantrums for a whole day!).
Charlie - what a great year! You've become quite a dynamic little boy in the last 12 months and I'm so happy that I get to be your mama!
You've passed basic milestones like first steps and first words, but more importantly your personality has come out and its oh so entertaining. I love the way you randomly say "Mommy get it" when you need something and "sorry Dad, sorry Dad" while shaking your head and acting scared. It makes everyone uncomfortable, especially your dad. I love how you show that you're scared of new toys that make noise not by crying but by backing up slowly and saying "Charlie scared car". I love the routine you have with dad where he says "1, 2, 3, goat!" and you counter with "1, 2, thwee doggie!"
I'd be lying if I said I didn't love how you put yourself to sleep when you're tired. Nothing beats a kid who grabs his blankie, hunts around for his pacifier, and heads to his room with no more prompting than "Charlie, I think it's 8:00."
I love how you announce everything you're doing. "Charlie runnin", "Charlie eatin oatmeal", "Charlie drinkin strawberry milk". Each little phrase you come up with makes me smile. Even when you say things that make no sense to someone who's not used to you - like "hold you sweetie" when you want picked up.
A friend pointed out the other day that we need to address your lying, but I think that's cute too. If you want to come home from the park and tell everyone you went down the big slide even though you didn't that's ok with me. If you want to tell people you blew out the candles at your party even though you froze and I took over that's ok too. Sometimes understanding what you're supposed to do is just as important as actually doing it. We'll get there Buddy.
Thanks for being such a fun kid - looking forward to another great year filled with entertaining moments and fun memories!
Love you so much!
Mom
