Eating Disorders in the Making

Weight is such a big issue in this crazy world. Not just for adults but for babies and little kids as well. Are they gaining enough? Too much? Here's the latest on the Ring kids.

Annie:
We had a weight check at the hospital today and she gained 5 ounces in 4 days! They said 1/2 an ounce a day would be good and 1 ounce would be great so we blew them out of the water with our 1 1/4 ounces.

I had just fed her in the waiting room minutes before her weigh in, which I did confess too, but the lactation consultant said we're still good. I'm out of the dog house, still no dieting, but at least I got praised for my efforts this time. I almost felt like they thought I was lying when I said I hadn't been slipping her any formula. I've just been nursing her every time she makes a squeak and that seems to be working (for her, not me, its exhausting).

We go back on Friday for 1 more follow up and then we don't have to meet with lactation anymore (assuming she gains in the next 3 days).

Charlie:
He had his 2 year "well-baby" check up at the doctor's office yesterday. They usually weigh him naked but this time they had him stand on the adult scale in his clothes. He didn't actually buy into standing on the adult scale so Grandma Cheryl weighed herself and then picked him up and got weighed while holding him (I still can't lift him because of the c-section so she stepped in).

So after all was said and done they told us he weighs 30.1 pounds which puts him in the 75th percentile. I don't know how accurate this is considering all the math involved and considering he was dressed and holding his blanket but whatever. Bottom line is he's pretty normal for his age.

His height is 36.5 which is the 94th percentile. He wouldn't hold still when she was measuring him so I'm not putting too much faith in the accuracy of this stat either, but he's in the normal range and that's all that really matters at this age.

His head is down to the 99th percentile from the 100th so we're pretty happy about that.

That's the weight update from Ring Land. Charlie is off at Grandma and Grandpa's house for a few days so I'm down to 1 kid until Thursday which equals extra sleep for mama!
